Gifts to establish an endowed fund, with the income to support open academic publications from the MIT Press.

The MIT Press Fund for the Future is a discretionary fund for use by the Director and Publisher of the MIT Press to support excellence and experimentation across all the fields in which the MIT Press publishes books and journals.

Gifts of alumni/ae and friends to establish a fund in memory of the late MIT Press Director, Frank Urbanowski, to support innovations in digital publishing at the MIT Press, along with the Press’ mission-driven publication efforts, by covering full or partial publication costs of high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly books and journals.

The MIT Press is committed to growing the publication of new works by excluded and chronically underrepresented authors from across the arts, humanities, and sciences. The Fund for Diverse Voices supports the MIT Press Grant Program for Diverse Voices, a direct-to-author award initiative. The Fund also enables the Press to offer competitive advances to talented authors, cover the cost of high-quality production features (e.g. color images, or commissioned art) that may not be financially feasible otherwise, and ensure that these works reach the widest readership possible through expanded marketing efforts.

Gifts to the Muriel Cooper Memorial Design Fund will be used to support the MIT Press’s publications in the fields of art, design, architecture, and visual culture. Funds received will help extend and reinforce Cooper’s legacy by subsidizing books, journals, and digital works that are technically innovative, intellectually rigorous, and visually challenging. Areas of support could include, but are not limited to, design, digitization, production, and acquisitions activities.
